I think that it would be really neat to have a challenge where the picture had to be a negative image of the picture you took. I don't think that it has been done before and we would probably get some really interesting images from it. I think that it would be a challenge to take a photo, reverse it and come out with something remarkable. I guess you could photograph whatever you wanted. Is this a dumb idea? |

Not a dumb ideal at all! In fact, it certainly could be a unique challenge. |

Personally, I like the idea alot! I am not sure that everyone has the capability of making an image into a negative though, if they are lacking software, but I do love the concept.

Maybe it could be the open challenges, Black and White Negative and Color Negative....color negative would be harder I think. |

I'm sure we could find some freeware that would inverse the colors of an image somewhere.
Fun idea. |

I have been playing with a few old pictures to see what I could come up with and I think that the images would turn out better with "negativity" in mind before I shoot. It is really hard to come up with something that doesn't look like crap. |

hi guys, the last time i checked photoshop had a 30day free trial of photoshop cs2 on their webpage. it does negatives but i'm not sure if you will be able to save as a .jpg, you might have to save as a psd. check out their page if you want it's adobe.com i think
here's the link the tryout is about half way down the page it says it is a full working version. so give it a try if you want.

You can save ANYTHING as a jpg in photoshop as long as you can reduce it to a single layer, which you can with a negative (inverted) image.

And here, until I read the post, I thought you wanted pictures of the RANT forums. *lol*
Sounds like a cool challenge. |

I would love for someone to post an example of some image-editing software which cannot do a simple color inversion -- I think you can even do that with Word, and I know for sure you can do it in many page-layout programs.
Ditto it being an interesting "technique-based" challenge. |
