What a great looking old house. Nice editing job too. Love the poem you put with it. The roof seems a little flat looking. Maybe add a little highlighting on it would help.

I am not the foremost expert in photography or digital imaging, but I left you a couple of ideas.

I agree with the person who suggested trying this in B&W. It is a cool old house, but it's got the same tones as the background. I think you could make it stand out more in B&W.

Is this the picture of the before
Then along comes Norm Abram and after some light re-modelling
.. voila

I can't believe I'm offering Photoshop advice. I'd use the lasso tool to only select the house, and increase the contrast and saturation of the house. There are some subtle colors in the house that can be brought out a little more.

I'd love to see Bob Villa try to fix that thing up! LOL!!

I really like it, but I also think the house should stand out a little bit, so I hope you dont mind but I played with it a little. I hope you like what I did. very simple magnetic lasso and then adjust contrast on it, and played with sat. But your version is awesome. Great perspective and wonderful eye. Would make a great print.

Edit to add BW conversion.

i think it would be cool in b/w, but might not have enough contrast. i don't have time to play right now, unfortunately :(

Very nice job. Here is the original saved as jpg. As you can see the photograph is full of details (scratching my head asking why is there a PVC pipe coming out of the left tree).

I'm not good at dodge and burn. If anyone would like to play with it feel free. Taken with canon 50mm f/1.8 II and it rendered good detail. But I also believe it needs some pop as suggested. The histogram does show a lack of tonal range.

Original RAW converted to JPG.

LOL Bren, you just made me feel ancient!!! What you call a "poem", I recognize as the lyrics to a very old song.
I am so showing my age here *grin*

Beetle by looking at your picture, if you're ancient I'd hate to hear what I'd be called. :) Who sang the song? I didn't recognize it when reading it. BTW I'm 51 or 52 or somewhere around there. At this age you start forgetting how old you are without doing some math.

I played with it a little. It might do even better sepia but I didn't try it.

I went back and converted it to sepia. I think I like it even better.

I'm 42 (40 1/2 in the photo), and that song came out in the 50's.
True, I wasn't around then, but I love the golden oldies.
Who sang it? Heaps of different people, I have no idea who did the original. A quick google came up with: Stuart Hamblen, Rosemary Clooney, Shakin' Stevens, etc.....

OK I have played with it a bit. Which version looks better to you? feel free to comment.

Personally this one is my favorite hands down.

I wouldn't change a thing about the processing. I think the composition could be a little bit better, but that's not what you were asking. FWIW, it feels a little "chopped off" on the right and bottom to me.

Most of the time I prefer color, but in this case the sepia really suits the photo.

I like the second one best. :-)

Original Edit

This is a great image with a lot of warmth. I've been experimenting with de-saturation lately and selective color enhancement, which I tried with here. I desaturated the image and played with selective, red, green and yellow(maybe blue too?). Then I added a sepia filter and played with the colors some more...ping ponging around a bit then I adjusted the contrast and added a little usm. I also burned the roof and thr tree a little.

In general, I like what you did but I wasn't too crazy about the greens...they seemed too brite and maybe a bit too strong, next to the gray hollowness of the shack.
