I'll bet most of you can find a curious one out there!

Much hard in the northeast.....
How about "Tile & Slate Roofs"
This should cover much of the southern and west (tile) and northeast/midwest (slate). |

Sure, it could be extended to all types of roofs, but I'd keep tall buildings out of it unless they had a "special" roof, I mean not the usual flat "pool-type" roof

How about just rooftops. Most roofs here are just ashphalt. Very rare to find anything else. |

I've only ever seen one tiled roof in the city. Not very common in Newfoundland. |

'Rooftop' would be more accessable to everyone -- but, challenge discription not withstanding, it changes the meaning from pictures of rooftops to pictures taken from rooftops. Both would be good challenges, but are apples and oranges in the same one.

Why would rooftops imply taking a picture from there rather than of one (or several)? |

Just the way I'm use to hearing the words used, I suppose.
Roofs would be shots of roofs, but rooftop is also a specific kind of shot. It's not alone, a 'table' shot would imply a shot with the camera sitting on the table rather than a shot of a table -- and 'hand-held' a shot without extra camera support as opposed to one of hands holding something.

I don't get your logic. I can see it either way.

Ok, the original thought was to take shots of rooftops. And if at the beggining I thought that city rooftops woulden't be attractive (photolikewise), now I think they can make just as good shots as any other kind of roof.
I think it would make a good challange.
