I have to do a portrait shot of a guy in the picture below on the far right. It is for a press release and headed to the local newspapers. I've been asked to "help him look thinner" YIKES!!! Anyone have any suggestions? He will be wearing a suit and tie (not sure of the color, hopefully dark). It will also be in black and white. Oh and he's the President of the company I work full time for so I'd better do it right LOL Thanks in advance!!

Here's what I would do (for what its worth). I would have him seated, but leaning forward and shoot his body in 2/3 profile (body facing 45 degrees away from camera, face back toward camera). That will give you mostly shoulder, arm and face in the shot, which will look masculine and disguise the weight. Good lighting would help too, light the face and let the rest of him fall in shadow.

Thanks idnic! Do you think that will hide the double chin too?

rembrandt light him. Then retouch the rest.

You might have realized this already, but just in case...

While he is leaning his body forward, his head should be turned upwards (towards the camera) which should lengthen his neck and hide the double chin.
