I have a guy at work that knows some one that may be interested in buying a photo that I took. He asked if I could put it on a CD and give it to him to take to the person so that they could see it. Can it be put on a CD in some way that it can only be viewed and not copied?

How does the guy know he's interested in buying a photo if he hasn't seen it?
Does the guy not have internet access?
Rather than using your colleague at work as the go between why not set up a meeting so you can show a print or take a laptop to show the image to him.

You can always put an invisible watermark. Can't they view it online somewhere where you can upload a smaller version? |

Does the guy not have internet access?--- I don't know. Never asked. He just asked if I could put it on a CD.

What about printing? Can the PDF be set up to prevent printing? |

I know you can create a PDF from photoshop (at least it's one of the options). |

Yes but I don't think it really prevents anybody from copying or printing.
What if I just put a small size copy on a CD say like DPC size or smaller. How will it look when opened? Can it be upsized to a 11x14 or bigger or resized for reproduction by some one?

Just remember that photos on your pc might look different on someone else's. Unless they calibrate. Try printing a 4x6 at walmart, etc. Don't know if they could get a good scan from a 4x6 though. I'd be worried about them just keeping a copy and just printing it out if they could. I agree with the meeting idea or the watermark. Maybe add a copyright smack dab in the middle along with a watermark. Enough that cloning it out would be difficult. |
