I know some of the Stock Photography issues have been beat to death but I couldn't find a comparison of MyLoupe and Alamy. MyLoupe is definitely easier on image prep - does that automatically mean you won't earn as much?

US Citizen, stationed in Japan. I'm not sure of my mailing costs to Alamy, much less mail time. For those talking about 25 days wait on submissions, I've gotten used to that for mail.

I'm not looking for a debate on micro but other Macro/RM site comparisons are welcome.

Alamy - More non-photographers/designers have heard of them
MyLoupe - Not many non-photographers/designers have heard of them.

I hope MyLoupe does well, but the hardest thing for new stock libraries is the first 2 years...very much a make or break period. I have only about 280 at MyLoupe, whereas I have 1600 at Alamy. I find that sending DVD's to the UK (from New Zealand) much easier than sitting infront of the computer uploading via MyLoupe's FTP thing.

Is Alamy primarily a European library or worldwide? I see WGF Images is from New Zealand. I currently live in Japan and have opportunity to shoot Asian/Western Pacific subjects (beyond travel). Is there a market for that on Alamy? I will be back in the US in a year so I'm looking at global or US market.

How complicated are the taxes dealing with a library that is not your home country?

I'm pretty sure they both pay in USD... not positive tho.

How does Alamy (and/or MyLoupe) compare to Photographer's Direct?

photographers direct won't let you sell at micro sites and join. I haven't heard much abouth them tho...

Thanks. Anyone else?

Photographers direct is basically a window for sellers to showcase images and negotiate with potential buyers, I have had a few interests in some photos but I definetly know they have sales through them.

Alamy with 4 million images are a worldwide library. Sales are paid in US dollars, to any bank account. I am lucky and still have my UK account so payment is easy for me and the exhange rate is good too!
