I'd be thrilled to break a 6 on this one and I'm slightly surprised I'm not a dash higher than where I am. I understand what people are voting down in my image...sadly, I did what I intended to do but the voters aren't seeing or percieving it that way. I did around 8 edited version to cut down on what(possibly percieved flaws) DPCers might not find pleasing. Ho Hum!

Think mine may have the same problem. Was ok on my home monitor, but quite dark on my work TFT one. Oh well...

You mean he doesn't have a ribbon? I thought he had 1 or 2 of them. Well shoot, I'm taking him out of my favorite's.

JK, Rikki, you still get 2 thumbs up.

Wow guys! Thanks for the vote of confidence. The pressure's on :) Nico, I didn't even see that comment you made earlier last night. Just got buried in our frustrations with the low scores I guess.

I must admit, I was NOT impressed with many of the entries. On the same hand, I am of the opinion "flame" & "night skies" make the hardest shots. Well, more so any lights at night.

respectable, but below average. Lots of work for a mediocre score. Well, at least I like it...

I'm really not impressed either. I voted holiday last night, then came to candles and after about half i had to give up because it was like voting on shoes all over again. I hope the 2nd half is stronger.
To me "Use candlelight to create the impact of your photo" does not mean "take a picture of a candle". There is so much you can do with an open flame, i really expected DPC to be more creative than that.

heres hoping for the 2nd half!

Well the one comment I have recieved so far confirms one thing. That my photo may well be appearing too dark on many viewers screens - even though I did take that into account and bumped the gamma abit. Bleh - if all monitors were set the same then the worry about calibration would not be an issue - especially in a challenge such as this. Ah, live and learn.

Now for some different stats:

Stats: You have rated 12 of 159 images (8%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 12 images (8%) in this challenge.

Let's see if I can actually leave comments on 25% of the works here - and I am not talking about simple one line comments:-)

I dont know about most, but I welcome ALL comments. Anything I can get to learn from is great. I try to leave comments, but mine arent as helpful "oh pretty lights" just doesnt seem to help as much as "your white balance was a little lower than I would liked and maybe next time you are shooting low light try xxxx to help"

Dr. Achoo, no fear, I expect 5.7 to be on the upper end of this challenge. I tried to use my 5 as a basis and if I was not so lazy would probably go back thru and drop most by another pt. I gave out more 3's in this challenge proportionately than any other.

I'm hoping mine that you found mine "deLIGHTful" and creative. If not perfect.

:)

I really did try to be creative and I was quite happy to have one of the more unique entries IMHO.

I think I am going to quit voting. And simply endeavor to make 20 (maybe more) good comments on each challenge.

I am trying not to feel guilty for not voting all the challenges. (Feel like such a user... *lol*)

I think I will endeavor to vote in at least the challenges I enter in if possible.

I'm not a full member yet, so I can't vote yet (obviously I didn't enter). I'm going to offer my two cents anyway.

I'm blown away by that score rikki. Who knows what goes on to make you take the slide you do.

You're coming up though...

I've been hovering around 4.9...

Not bad as I know mine will likely have some extreme pendulum swings in it's votes due to the varying appeal.
