Hey everyone! I hope everyone is well.

I have a question. I am interested in getting some of my shots printed for hanging in my house and I really like the poster look (at least that's what I call it). You know, the ones that have the black or white boarders and then the image name and artist underneath the picture in the boarder. EXAMPLE

If anyone knows a fairly simple way to achieve this effect, please write and let me know. I have Adobe PhotoShop Elements (which I'm not very good at all with). As always, thanks in advance and I hope everyone health and happyness and happy shooting!!!

Thanks again!

I don't have elements, but hopefully you can do all these things... This is how I would do it...

1. Open your image.
2. Select your whole image. Cut it. Paste it on a new layer.
3. Adjust your canvas size so that the border is how big you want it.
4. On your canvas layer, fill it with your border color.
5. Double-click your image layer to add a stroke to the image. Adjust the stroke size and color so it looks how you want it.
6. On a new layer, add your text with the text tool.

This may be a few more steps than the way others would do it, but it provides maximum changeability... so you can play with your border colors, move your image around, etc.

I do this routinely for my prints.
Here's a gallery of bordered prints of varying styles and complexity.

I forget whether Elements has layers, but if it does, it is easy.

1) Finish final crop/adjustment.
2) Set desired mat color to the Background color (can sample from picture)
3) Increase Canvas Size by desired border amount.
4) Repeat steps 2 and 3 as desired to achieve asymmetry or multiple colors as desired.
4a) (Optional) Select border area and apply filter effects if desired.
5) Create text layer; set/sample Foreground color and add text.
6) Save in Photoshop-native format
7) Save-As-Copy to flatten image to desired format (TIFF, JPEG, EPS, etc.)
