THE MATCH-UP
THE PROGRESSION
Original image
Round 1 bear-music(17-8)
Round 2 Art Roflmao (16-9)
Round 3 Art Roflmao (16-8)
Round 4 Art Roflmao (14-6)
CONGRATULATIONS KEN!!! ART ROFLMAO IS THE BIG WINNER, DEFEATING BEAR_MUSIC IN 3 OF 4 ROUNDS
Since Art Roflmao has won 3 consecutive rounds, there is no need to proceed to Round 5 (unless the contestants just want to).
Thanks again for participating in my little experimental contest.
CONTEST OVERVIEW
This is a 5 round competition of Photoshop and image enhancement skills where contestants go toe to toe. This is a digital art contest. Each contestant is given an image to work with for a maximum of 24 hours. The image can be manipulated in any manner possible (there are no rules). The only editing rule the contestants must follow is: The image at the beginning of the round must at least be identifiable after editing.
Once edits are completed, the image is posted for voting. Contestants are not allowed to vote on a match-up they are participating in. Only the first 25 votes counts. Voting must be done on the provided voting page to be counted. Once voting begins, the contestants e-mail each other the uncompressed versions of their entry. At the end of voting, the winning image becomes the image to be edited for the next round. The contestant who wins the most rounds wins the competition.
When voting, please do so on the provided page. Votes placed on the image or in this thread will not be counted. This thread is to be used for contest updates, and trash-talking, not voting. The images are being stored in my portfolio and will likely be deleted at some point so any comments placed on the images (although appreciated) will probably be temporary
I have a wife, baby, and job so the contest may experience some delays from time to time. I have tried to organize it in a way that makes it easy for me to update, so I promise I will make every effort to keep things moving.
I will keep the updates in this original post to make it easier for everyone to follow the progress without having to scroll through all of the posts.
Please PM me with any questions you may have about this contest.

I see I got hammered on this one. The voters have spoken, and they have spoken a mixed message. Round 1 voters chose subtlety and sophistication over cartoonish lampooning, while in round 2 they completely reversed field and went for the cheap laugh over the deeply metaphysical expression of our journey towards enlightenment.
(yes, I'm trash-talking and not serious at all)
I can see I will have to re-evaluate my approach to this challenge. Stand back, ken, fireworks incoming!

"Cartoonish lampooning??" Man you don't know quality fantasy art when you see it. Come to think of it, judging by your pathetic second round entry, your vision must be about as good as your hearing. Maybe Karma should take over the mouse for round 3 - more competition.
Nyeah. :) |

No FAIR! I demand a DQ. You bring up my sainted WonderDog AND you make a mockery of my physical limitations, but I can't even TOUCH your wife because she is with child, as they say...
As Karma is my witness, you will regret this, Ken!

Ha ha. At this stage I can't even touch my wife! LOL
My Round 3 image has been sent to Lee in a lead shielded, radiation-proof container. I hope your round 3 image can withstand the heat that will be unleashed when the voting begins again. |

Geesh, Ken! How can I compete with your moving the same elements around over and over again? You have the original pieces "in stock" so you can use them over and over! NO FAIR I say, NO FAIR! (Do you notice a "no fair!" theme in my whimpering?)
I do think it's funny we both went sharky...
I guess I can be proud my beautiful background is the canvas for this stuff, eh?

How come only one of the votes is marked helpful?

Last time I counted votes, you were winning! So if there's a conspiracy, it's working in your favor so I wouldn't call it out if I were you!

You shoulda asked yourself that question before you accepted my challenge. :)

Frankly, yes. If I could've voted in round 1, I would've voted for yours for that reason - I really like it. In fact, it would be cool if you could post all the things you did to it. Well as many as your senility allows you to recall anyway. **gotta keep up the trash talk, lest the peanut gallery get bored
I'm gonna post the source images I used for each round when it's over - that will likely make the results even more impressive when you see what I had to work with. :)
Good luck in round 4, bear. If you're lucky my wife will go into labor today (her due date) and I might have to forfeit. ;-) |

If you're half the man you ought to be, you'll spend this time with your wife and let me even the score up for the grand finale :-) It's the only way to get any drama back into this match, jejejeâ¢

| Actually, your wife might have a long labour. You should bring a laptop with you to the hospital. There's probably somewhere there or nearby you can get net access. ;-) |

Thanks Slippy. I just got a new laptop, so I'm covered. Want me to do a live webcam thing in the delivery room? |
