Since the rating system for the comments has been introduced, it seems to me that the quality of the comments became better: the commenter explain more why she/he likes/dislikes my submission. Comments are a little longer too.
This is probably because one gets a reward for writing a comment/critique. I for myself write a little longer comment too (also I change the way I select the pictures I comment on).
Therefore I like this feature very much.
Do you share this experience?

Harz, I still do as I've always done: make a comment and click on a number to vote.
I like the new way we can tick that a comment has been appreciated and/or helpful, but what is this new way of commenting/voting all about?
EDIT: It's ok, don't worry. Sorted!

Well, I didn't change my voting, just the commenting. I vote first and comment after a few days.
I once read here in a thread that a member picks randomly after voting a picture from the top, then form the bottom and middle of his personal ranking list and that sounded interesting to me.
Before, I tend to comment mainly on the one I liked or when I had the feeling only a small alteration would have made a picture a lot better.
Picking a picture I'm not to strongly effected to during voting and then looking at it closely during commenting had the nice effect, that I had to put my feeling/view into words. Sometimes harder then excpeted, sometimes I had to change my vote after a longer view to a picture. Of course I would like to do so for all pictures, but that's a matter of time.

I find that if you take the time to comment, you get to consider the shot a bit more and appreciate it for what it is. The dismissive first-impression voting is more likely to short-change a photo in the voting, I think. |

I agree with jimmmy completely. I've often intended to vote a certain score and in the process of commenting and looking at the shot in more depth, changed my rating completely. |

I'd like to mention after my first initial distress to the comments of my photo, I've received some very good constructive criticism, and it has all helped me and has taught me. Lisa has also helped me to learn a lot! (love you lisa!)
Thank you to everybody who took the time to write comments. I've been sitting here every day, commenting on a few photos a day (I know I won't be able to get them all done) and thinking about how I would make the photo better, and I suggest it! That's how I comment on things, and I hope I've not insulted anybody in my attempts to point out how their picture can improved.. It's all an opinion anyway, isn't it :)

I go in depth on any picture assigned to me for a CC-critique. Good or bad, doesn't matter.
In the challenges I only comment on my top pictures. That is for my own personal enjoyment.
The amount of comments is based on the time I have availble. I prefer to go in depth on my normal comments as well since I joined the CC.

I don't think it matters. I've been looking at what alot of people are selecting as useful. It's mainly the ones that give praise. "Awsome shot", "Best pict of ****** I've ever seen" etc... Not too many are picking the useful ones or alternative ideas for a certain photo that they might not of thought to do. |
