I'd go head to head with doc! That is if Annah can't make it! :)

I should elaborate what I was "hoping" this was. I took Mesmeraj's photo, and treated it like an editing critique, sort of what we do when someone posts a photo for help in the forums. I've always enjoyed doing that, though I don't always have time.

I'd like to see a challenge where you get a photo, and you have to "fix/enhance" it. Perhaps to what you think the artists vision might be, or just a second pass at realizing an artistic statement with the first photo.

If you are my opponent idnic, I'd still like to see what you did with my umbrellas. :)

No worries Neil. I originally understood the challenge your way too, but luckily caught on before it started.

Actually so did I :) Was I being too conservative then?

Looks like only half a wad Rikki. That means more for round 2... ;)

Istock Steel Cage is where you take one base image and add to it, manipulate it - the only requirement is that SOMETHING of the image must survive. If you saw the photoshop tennis thread, that's what we were doing. I ended up SteelCaging that one.

This is the thread.

I took this: and used the image to make this:

Expanding on what was there.

I didn't wanna wear myself out Doc :P Seriously, I thought this was more to "enhance" the photo and bring it out more than "adding" elements to it. I was wrong but still managed to win by a resounding margin.

BTW, who's photo was I working on?

Well that's not what I was hoping for personally either, but I do enjoy following those threads!

Ok, good luck to you guys!

We'll have to get an OK from Lee, but if Annah can't make it, I'd love to share my entry with you guys! :) I thought it rocked!

OK, checkin' in before I go to bed. I still haven't heard anything from Annah, but it looks like it's going to work out OK after all. If Neil is bowing out, idnic can take his place.

This was Cindi's edit:

Since Cindi's edited image originally belonged to DrAchoo, I think it's only fair that if she takes Neil's place, they should continue to round two with DrAchoo's winning image from round 1. You guys would have 4 remaining rounds to duke it out and in the event of a tie, we could tally TOTAL votes and decide that way. If this is OK with everyone, DrAchoo can send his original to idnic and round two can "officially" begin after I tally votes tommorrow at 8:00 AM and "formally" announce winners.

You guys can count though so it's kind of easy to figure out what I'm going to post in the morning. With that said, I'm off to bed! Thanks again for your participation!

I sent you a PM idnic. Your choice of photos. I totally don't mind going with the umbrellas (and would prefer it) cuz there is more to work with. But you make the call since the shreded remains of that one were mine at one point...

WOW, ok, caught me in my first reboot this week! (I take pride in minimum reboots as I always have so many apps running, nightmare hard-core puter user)

I think I agree with you, the umbrella shot does have more to work with and I would like to continue with it. I will email you full-sized version. Like my take on your cafe shot?? :D

Lee, would it be possible to post the original that both contestents start with along with their entries, so we can remember where they started without having to jump threads?

agreed! and it would be nice if each subsequent results page showed all the winning stages as a progression.

Mwuhahhaa! Now Lee's shaking his head, wondering what he's gotten himself into. :-D

Not that big a deal, once he has the first sequence set up he can just copy the post, delete the non-winner images, add the new images, and move on to voting with an intact record to pursue :-)

Lee, I sent the original file to you. Should I send to Caleb as well?
