...here's what I am seriously thinking about:
Alien Bees: The Beginner Bee
After that, I have about another $350 to $450 to spend on a lense...
Any suggestions?
I am in need of a fast standard zoom lense to take the place of the kit lense that came with the camera. I am just not overly happy with the kit lense, compared to the quality of the Canon 50mm I have.
Thanks for any help.

A lense I am considering is this one...
Canon 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
It's not to pricey, has IS, which is always a good thing. |

Any comments?
Are these "good buys"? |

Sigma 18-50 2.8 EX DC for about $500 (i got mine new on ebay for $440). You'd sell you kit lens the next day.
Tamron SP 24-135 3.5-5.6. Not fast, but great for walkaroud use, and with strobes fast is not important anymore as you'll be shooting 5.6-10 ap range, and this is one seriously sharp lens, and it does nice macro, abotu $400.
Either of these are pro lenses, so the build quality and sharpness will make you hate your current lenses ;)
perhaps AB add ons? Grid or softbox?
Pocket wizard - you won't shoot long before you want to go wireless, i guarantee it.
The canon 28-135 is not very sharp, kinda heavy and 28 is not wide enough on 1.6x crop camera.

Thanks.
I have been thinking about that Sigma lense. I am not so sure about the DC component of that lense. It seems to be built for a DSLR with a smaller then 35mm equivalent sensor.
What happens when I step up to a full frame sensor DSLR? Will I need to dump that lense at that point? |

Hi,
I own the 28-135 IS USM and before i got the 70-200 it never left my camera. The macro setting is also very usefull. Th range on it is great also. Although the immage quality isnt quite up to the L lens level, i find that there is barely any difference unless you crop like a crazy person. Hope this helped!!
