I don't know about others here but I think that it would be cool if DPC had a "FOR SALE" area. I happen to have some stuff that might help other DPCers that I would consider selling but I do not wish to go to
E-bay to sell.

What do others here think....

mostly they get put in "Hardware" but I would love to see a buy/sell like FredMiranda.com has.

I definitely agree...we've been asking for a while but I suspect that the sponsors make this difficult.

In what way - how can FM do this and not DPC?

I didn't realize, is FM sponsored by camera stores?

I bought a very nice little camera from a forum here a couple years ago. Its generally a good place to do it. You can always just make a post though and see if anyone is interested?

When I bought my camera I had posted that I was looking for an upgrade and next thing I know, kiwiness offered to sell me his old one.

It was great :)

They are sponsored by PriceGrabber, from what I see under "Equipment". So I was mistaken, they're not sponsored by a camera store but it may still present a conflict.

I can't think of any other reason that a Buy/Sell forum hasn't been created yet. I think DPC could compete (eventually) with FM or photo.net with a buy/sell forum because of the amount of knowledgeable users here.

Huh - I didn't consider that Pricegrabber may actually contribute $ to the site. :)

There could be legal issues couldn't there? They may not want to associate with selling items in case people get ripped off. We are talking about equip that can cost several hundred dollars and up wards. I

It's possible there's a liability issue.

Nope, I bought a DSLR a few months back. I think the sensor was starting to go though. It was becoming unreliable. But it had a long life and I would have taken thousands of shots with it, as would you lol

I may use it again though :)

I buy all camera for $2, lenses for $1 and other stuff for a quarter. See, there is no need for a for sale as it is all sold to me, no questions asked. LOL

I don't see how there could be if DPC simply published a short disclaimer and warning.

fredmiranda has a huge FS forum -Buy and Sell actually, it turns over really fast.
I would think something like that here would work, or could at least be tried.

Pin a message with the 'rules'. I think FM has a feeback post pinned too.

But if FM works w/ the liability issues via a disclaimer, DPC could do the same, non? I'm sure Fred has checked with a lawyer.

There is no liability issue for either site unless there is representation on behalf of either site as to the quality or reliability of the buyers/sellers, products or transactions or unless they state that they are liable. Other then that all transactions are the legal responsibility of the parties involved. The online medium (DPC, FM) can be no more liable for bad transactions or misrepresentaions then the local paper is for their want adds.

We're working on it! I'd also love to see a for sale section and have been lobbying for one for awhile now. :)

its been a pet of mine too since I had such positive experiences. There are a few more issues to work out than just liability.
