I been reading old threads. I like this "grunge edit" created by JoeyLawrence (and wow he is good)
How do you do it? What are the steps in general?
I have CS2 and I have GIMP, can? Thank you for any help. |

I dont think it is overused.
That would be like saying the macro on a white backfield is over used, or the single soft spotlight in portrait is overused, or the duotone is overused.
All techniques have been around for generations. They come and go.
The measure of a good photo or what you should do with any photo is what you, the photographer, feels is the way you want to represent the emotion in a shot...whatever the treatment.
