I have PM'ed about support for this as I have no access to the numbers or the members list, but I would be willing to sponser a Critique Club marathon between now and Sunday midnight, next rollover, with a free membership to the EXISTING CC member who perfoms the most critiques between now and then (myself excluded). If you are a member of CC and a member of DPC, you get a renewal, if only a registered user, you become a member.

Any support for this? Anyone up for participating?

I have not heard back if I will get support for the numbers yet, but I really want to do this. The critiques should be legit too - not just 'hello from the critique club' and then one or two sentences about the photo.

Kind of sounds like a sponsorship program for public television.

Good idea. I can't promise a lot but I can certainly do a few.

OK, I've made a snapshot of the current CC critique counts, so you're all set to start this marathon! I'll make another snapshot after the next rollover, and compare the numbers :o)

Thanks Manic! I PM'ed heather about this but I will take the numbers from any source. I do appreciate it!

NOTE: If perchance the person with the most does not want nor need the membership, the next person on the list will receive it.

Again, thanks Manic!

And we're off! Track conditions are good and the field is wide open...coming in to the first stretch we have...

can i stipulate that when you have your contendors for the "prize" to check that they are proper critiques?
There have been a few CC-ers recently, who have been leaving rather half arsed crits (i'm sorry but it is true). A CC comment should be far more indepth than a regular during challenge comment. I have seen a couple that have really disappointed me recently.
The kinds that read "yup - good light, good subject, i agree with all the comments you received, well done" and nothing more. Personally, i would be a little PO'd if i recieved *that* when i requested a CC.

add me to the bunch, but I don't need a membership. I just hate to see the number that high!

I did sort of specify that, but I have no real way of checking on EVERY critique. I would have to rely in the integrity of the critiquer and the sheer numbers alone. Perhaps flawed, but a stimulus is all I am going for. A lot of people really want critiques on their photos that need them and with 500+ in the queue and only a weekend to get them done, came up with this. If we can put a good dent in the number, I am sure it would make a lot of people happy.

yeh and didn't it used to say CJ?
12/08/2005 07:37:33 PM · #19
yes, it used to...I was toying with using my penname, but then I figured someone would recognize it and people would look up what I wrote under that name and figured I would rather have most of it kept 'buried' as far as this forum is concerned.

Not that it is bad, but want to be known for something other than that at some point.

Sign me up for Critique Club and I'll try to do a few this week.

I understand that since I'm not an "existing" CC member I'm not eligible for the prize, but since I get free membership as part of SC I'm not in it for the prize anyway. ;-)
