You probably should find that out. Although not meeting the challenge is not grounds for DQ, a time/datestamp that is not within the challenge dates IS grounds for DQ.
Can you find a copy of your manual online?

But, I did get a few shots of the city before 5, a few minutes to be exact. But my picture says that I took it at 9 in the morning. To be exact, the metadata says Date Created: 12/6/2005 at 8:40:14 AM and then it says Date Modified: Today, 4:40:14 AM. When I checked my camera for the date and time, it said 12/7/2005 and the correct time at which I look at it (don't remember when I looked, it was this morning when I got back from SF and looked at my photos. Why does it change the metadata? Will I be disqualified? It's clearly not 8:40 AM in SF. |
How are you importing your images? Your metadata does not sound kosher for an original.
If possible, can you send it in (via the Contact page) so we can look at it?

I know how to change the date and time on my camera, but it seems that the program I am using, Adobe Bridge, isn't reading the info correctly. How can I possibly modify a file before I created it? That is where I am confused, but I think that the best pictures from last night came well after 5, which I know isn't grounds for dq, but I usually like to follow the limitations, it makes it more challenging for me and makes me get more creative rather then waiting for the right moment. I am just concerned about the date stamp. Oh well, either way I will live. So, anyone up for pizza? I am starving...just kidding, I already ate.
p.s. If you want to look at some of the photos from that night, they are in my portfolio and they are the CRW_8xxx files. Let me know what you think.
And thanks for all your help. |

Adobe Bridge does the same thing to me. When I use RSP everything seems kosher.

There is a shot I've been wanting to take, knowing that it would have to be done sometime in the wee hours of the morning. Thanks dpc for giving me some motivation for actually getting that one done.

Well, it's been interesting trying to convince hubby to come with me between 4-5 am to do this shot! For safety reasons, at that hour, I'd feel much better having him along. I love that I have a husband and family who appreciate this particular form of insanity. :) |

I wish I could do this shot, since I usually wake up around those times and jog. Unfortunately for me, 4am outside my neighbourhood scares the living shit out of me. Female... alone... in the dark... and in Bangkok. No thank you, I've had my share of alone in the dark harassment just right outside my neighbourhood that I reside in.
Good luck for all of you though! I look forward to your shots.

Okay, I've got the date/time in my camera set, but it doesn't show in the picture. Is it supposed to? Is it encrypted? |

But you loose a lot of respect. IMHO.

When you look up the properties of the photo, you will find the date and time there along with other things like the apeture and shutter speed. You certainly don't want it showing on the front of a photo unless it is needed for legal purposes or such like. Certainly not for a challenge photo.

I hate choosing photos. I'm much better when I have ONE concept and can usually pick the best pretty easily. I have three similar, but different photos that is making it difficult to choose. None are "wow", at least to me. However, I think all have good qualities.
How do you choose? I've posted each one of the three as my entry so far because sometimes it looks a bit different when posted at dpc....but they are still equal I think. Maybe I'll just flip a coin. |

Set the alarm for 4:30am (and us being on daylight saving time that's really 3:30am!) AND I am not a morning person. But rolled out of bed, had a quick coffee and went out to see what I could get. Got a couple, which I thought would do for my first ever entry into the challenge. Later in the morning I downloaded them only to find my camera time was set wrongly ie. 4:30am and it was reading 4:30PM! :O Oh well one more morning to have another try. |

What I'm finding interesting is that so far more people have chosen this challenge over the cheese challenge. |

Maybe because this one has more room to stretch as compared to cheese. |

A warm vehicle:) Actually my shot was a block down the road, I was driving somewhere that I thought would be a good shot and something else caught my eye. 4 am kinda plays with your mind whats a good shot to take. Im really pleased with mine.. When I showed my wife who normally says "sure that good" turns into "OMG honey that is beautiful!" kinda turns it into a winner..:) |

BTW...
I got scared the heck outta taking my photo for this challenge. Nothing like finding fresh prints of an animal that could really mess ya up! As your letting the camera do its long exposure. Kinda scary and plays mind games at this wierd time of the morning.. I didn't want to be eaten. |
