Dude WTF!? Im not learning here..if anything Im wondering why even try anymore its all popularity I guess, I have a perfect in every way on my current challenge entry, and totally fits the challenge. Guess its time for me to find better sites to try...

Matt, don't get flustered by it. This is fairly typical of the first night voters. Your score will adjust and re-adjust throughout the evening. You'll have a better gauge of where you'll be after the 125th vote from my experience. At that point, it's between a .2 swing either way. For some people, they just randomly vote until they've gone through the entire bunch and then seriously vote. I do this. I place images in the 5, 6 and 7 range the first night. I adjust accordingly after looking at the images again for teh next few days.

It can never be a popularity contest because it's all votes are hidden. No one knows what one submitted. However, some people have a distinct style that some folks recognize right off the bat. Librodo for instance always has portraits so when he won the blue ribbon for the Collections challenge, no one had a clue it was him.

15 votes and i slump to a 6.0667, which is still a good score but i was at 7.4 after 8 votes so I think we just have a band of trogladites passing through with a big 1 stick and they hitting everyone in sight... it will pass my friend try not to get too upset about the odd freaks that try to spoil things for the rest of us.

I actually entered the Too Late challenge, but if its any consolation, my very first entry was DQ'ed for time on camera being off, and my second entry tanked in at a 4.1. They are now all in the highfives (my soon to be new name on here *smile*) with the ONE exception of my Too Late entry starting at a big ol` 6.0. It was nice to at least see the 6 for a while. The next voter brought it all the way down to a 5.0, so yeah, the one-bandits are out and about tonight.

I do tend to see a lot of the winners are repeat winners. I HOPE if a style IS recognized that it isn't influencing voters either way by popularity. I have only been here a month, but I see the styles of a few already. There is one that always enters something to do with Sari's or Indian nature. There is another who enters using models or people that I recognize in a lot of the challenges, which with people in challenges I tend to not like that. It gives away anonymity when you or your wife or child are used over and over in challenges.

I KNOW for a fact that my free study is perfect, and had hardly any editing to it at all, as none was really needed. So far it is coming in at a 5.9, but I did expect at least a 6.5 for a final on it.

To the discouraged voter, what I do is set my own personal goals for scores. Then when you reach it, you ARE a winner. If you haven't reached it, then you are only competing with yourself in the next challenge. I get excited about every challenge, but it's a crap shoot no matter what. So just try to meet your own personal goals, and set them low at first to build confidence. I set mine now at a 5.5, and depending on entry, a 6 to 6.5. When I started, I shot for a 5.0, and didn't get it. In striving to meet that 5.0, I am now doing so. As you go, you learn what is voted on more often in this site then not. You can still meet that challenge, and keep your own creativity and style at DPC. Some people just happen to win out by having both their style be the popular style, and some not. But there is a fine line, and one just has to find it.
