I always take some cash along, something my dad told me "ALWAYS TAKE SOME CASH", not sure why I'd need it in a national park or at the beach, but I do. Maybe I can bribe the guy who's gonna mug me for my camera! lol

Usually I'm out hiking and I have my backpack with all my stuff in it...
12/02/2005 10:46:12 AM · #28
Small package of kleenex
Moist antibacterial towlettes
Trail mix
Water
Glock 9mm, or in shady areas: Uzi pistol with 25 round clip

edit to add so you don't think I'm psycho: just kidding about that last part.

Goggles to avoid punches from the celebrities

But seriously. The usual outdoorsy stuff. GPS, compass, maps. Pen and notebook (although I hardly ever use it). Sodas, lunch.

Well, once I sold a film to a sour tourist in the middle of nowhere here in Iceland and saved his day, so it can come in handy to have some cash on you, although I doubt people will sell their memorycards or batteries now, but you never know..

Lets see...in my camera bag (that is actually a video camera bag I like the divider with the half circle cut out for supporting my camera when I'm too lazy to take off the len) I have...

-a small bible (my wife's old one)

-usually a small bottle of home dried and crushed habenero pepper powder, can be used if attacked but mostly cause I eat it on everything and almost always have my camera with me (trust me it can be a lifesaver at McDonalds with their flavorless food) ;)

-few coins I didn't want in my pocket

-business cards with the phone number lined out and changed...I really need to redo those. :p

-paint sample cards to do custom white balances (I don't carry white cause my daughter says my skin is pale enough I can just adjust off of it...got to love her)

-cool business card looking thing that holds dental floss (I'm a Navy dental assistant, what did you expect?), because you never know when you might need to hang something or whatever.

-pens, and paint marker

-small car detailing brush to clean lens and such

-extra AA batteries (even though I also have two external power supplies fully charged with me)

-mini maglight flashlight

-mini sewing kit, without the safety scissors thanks to airport security. They let me have the needles but not the dull tipped scissors lol

Is it any wonder my bag has been referred to a man purse?

On me I usually have the wallet and cell phone.

An eraser, just in case.

Rummaging through my bag, aside from my photo stuff, I have the following: GPS unit, First Aid kit, Cellphone, some Euros (I have no idea why, I live in the US), Folding Knife, the little rubber thingy from a sippy cup, a Transformer (Yes, a robot in disguise), a radiation hazard sticker, A Lucky Lager bottlecap and a small, unidentified nut.

Shouldn't that be a Biohazard sticker?

Yes I do eat a lot at taco bell and lol it probably should be a biohazard sign. I like the sign behind the shitter better personally.

It's a hassle getting through airports though.

depends on where I'm going. ALWAYS in the bag is my remote shutter release, I use it alot to eliminate camera movement. "pelican" rain coat for the camera. laser pointer. It's just enough to autofocus on in the dark. Model release. Thats about all I take on a regular basis.
