Thought you might like to see this panoramic view of London from Chingford Mount during a great sunset on Sunday night.

The following link is to a large file (2500 pixels wide) and may be around 700k. It was shot with my 75-300mm lens and was hand-stitched (after a good attempt by Photomerge) from seven separate shots.

The resolution from this is good enough for a 2 metre wide, highly detailed print, so let me know if you'd like one and I'll set it up on DPCprints.

Looks real good, wish the larger version loaded. Pretty hard to comment a panorama from 500x63 thumbnail. :?

Cool stuff! Where in London were you when you took those shots? *has no sense of location from just the skyline*

Thats really good! What did you use to stitch them?

I have only tried one panorama and it only consisted of two pictures!
I think I was two close to the subject too as the poins of perspective in the two shots change so much the building was distorted to much to stitch it properly...

Simply stunning Jon! The sun on the horizon is a really nice touch. That's a fantastic perspective of London. I've never been, and I never knew that it had that many high-rises.

Thanks all. The shot was taken from Chingford Mount, Essex - a hill near Enfield. I've yet to get to the very top to see if the view gets any better, as I only had a minute or two before the sun disappeared and I literally sprinted up to this vantage point!

Outstanding Jon. I love the shades of colors in it. Have you printed it yet and if so how large?

Do you use a special tripod mount for your panoramas? or do you just go with the typical mount?

Here's a detail at 70% of actual pixel size.



Edit: pix-al, I sutured them by hand after saving a bit of time using Photoshop's 'Photomerge' (within the 'automate' menu).
DrAchoo - this was handheld - and light was fading so had to be steady!

A bit of NeatImage would do wonders!

cpurser - this is a heavily compressed JPEG detail of a 2-metre wide shot. NeatImage does help at times but often I prefer to get some texture. I have different settings depending on whether the print is on canvas or paper. This one is targeted for canvas and a touch of grain helps.

I hear ya. I sometimes like grain too. My free study has some, but it is hard to tell at 640px.

What a great shot...surprised that I've never seen this vantage point before on a poster! What are the airborne dots near the gherkin and the triplet up in the sky?

Here's a link to help you complete your annotation (no celestial bodies included, though).

Bombdog...not as good as Imagineer.

bpickard, you're a genius - thanks for that link. Very useful indeed.

The dots you mentioned are birds - some are seen (on the full size print) flocking in formation lower down too.
