I almost entered this in the Adulthood Without Adults challenge. But held back because the adult on the cover.

The reason for the old school mag, I couldn't find a current issue. Where can a guy buy a pack of smokes, six pack and Playboy?

Can I get some comments as to how it might have done?

Come on. 27 people looked at it. Can't someone give an opinion?

Ok. For what it's worth, I'll give your thread a nudge...(but you might not like it).

The question you might need to answer is Why didn't you enter it?

It's well exposed. It has the elements of perceived adulthood. There is the adult woman, I suppose, in the advertising image. It's not a literal representation of art....

Is it because you thought maybe this was an adolescent view of what it means to be and "adult"? Booze, women and smokes?

(As to how this might have done, nope. Even if I had entered and/or voted on this challenge I couldn't possibly tell you how this would have done--you have to enter to find that out. Any other questions?)

I didn't enter because of the woman on the cover. An adult in the picture. I was worried about that. I was thinking it did not meet the challenge.

My intent was to show that these items can all be purchased, legally. Not very original, I know.

Basically, I'm just asking what people think. What could I have done better. Looking for some feedback.

I can see your thinking, up to a point, about the woman on the magazine cover. (But I still think you should have entered it.)

As a photo, outside of the challenge...

It strikes me as a well-balanced shot. The technicals are there: lighting, exposure, composition. Nice range of darks and lights. But it's rather un-moving. Doesn't say much. Just a gathering of items that are loosely related. Nothing in it moves, can move, or moves me to emotion. The beer is present-day and still has the plastic six-pack rings on it. The cigarettes I don't recognize. They are brand new. The magazine seems old because of the photo--but it's in collectible condition.

And there, for me, is the rub.... Everything's new! Unused! And the time periods don't fit together....anachronistic. Rip off one of the cans and open it! Lose one of the cigarettes from the pack--after all, who opens a pack of cigarettes without pulling one out? Dog-ear the pages of the magazine! In other words, it's a set up. Nothing about the image convinces me that this is true...(now read my signature.)

Hope that helps. ;-)

That's what I needed. Thanks for the feedback!

Also, the outdated magazine had me slightly worried.

C'mon DPC'rs! You're not possibly going to let me get away with the only opinion on something, are you?

To be honest, a 5, I think it does meet the challenge, I don't consider it an adult in an ovious ad, but it lacks more, more pop, more intrest. It seems rather dry, and seeing your other work I think you could have made this work alot better to set your point across using your skills.

Thanks guys. I guess deep down I knew it needed work and used the excuse of the woman to not enter.

I need the feedback. So again, thanks guys.
