Hello all...

I am thinking of entering a show and would like some feedback on two images I have selected. I would like to enter something along the lines of abstract landscape which is why I have chosen these two.

Any and all feedback greatly appreciated and I will trade comment for comment. Honestly brutal works for me - if they don't work for you, please say so. :)

I have thick skin... :)

Both images will be blown up to about 20"X30"...

I've always preferred natural looking images and find most images here Photoshopped to death. However I must admit I really like the left image, pathshow. It's not only enjoyable to look at, but also invites me into the picture. The only way I would "improve" it would be to shoot from a lower height to emphasize the path and push the vanishing point upwards rather than having it dead center in the image.

On the other hand, I find stripeshow dull, dark, and boring.

Thanks everyone - very helpful. Sometimes you just get so wrapped up in the crap behind the image you forget to look at it with a critical eye. I have edited them with your comments in mind. Let me know if they are improvements. I have also included crops for closer viewing. :)

I may just bag these altogether and try something else...

I also have one with a boat, but the man annoys me. Maybe if I remove the man and leave the boat...

Replied on all. Summary -- #1 Revised path, #2 Man in boat, others are easily forgotten (at least by me).

oooh....the long stripes? with the boat in it? what about doing the abstract to everything but leaving boat normal? or all of it abstract? the only thing I didn't like about the stripes with the boat was that I could see the house/building in the back.....otherwise I love all of these!

I want to thank everyone for all their comments! They are really helpful. I am working on commenting back.

Just for info, the close images were only to show what the 'texture' of the image was up close as I know looking at something to be blown up past 11X17 is difficult when only seeing it at 640 pixels.

I will go with the man in the boat but I will move him to the background without the house and do some adjustments to get the backgorund between the two.

I'm going to use the cropped version of path. I really like centered compositions when the subject essentially revolves around the center but doesn't touch it. I guess in this case the black end of the path is too dominant for that.

Thanks again everyone and I hope to get your comments back to you by tomorrow morning!

Now I just gotta find one more...Its snowing right now so later I gotta go out and find a winner. :)

LOLhahahahlolROFL!!! I must remember to not annoy you. :)

I love the photos

In order: Path (original), stripeshow , fisherman (sans fisherman?)

As to PP, what mood are you hoping to evoke from the photo(s)? I like each edit for different reasons - you've done the hard part by taking wunderbar photos to start with.

You're good.

Edit: my apologies for not commenting on the photos and using a sweeping comment above.

I think abstract nature shots can be very interesting. I've left comments on several, hope they are helpful :)
