Festival of the colored square thingies, held annually in the hills of Umpapamaumau. It was initially a dumping ground for colorful Mexican furniture until some French artist painted a picture of it. Since then, tens of thousands of tourists brave the 38 mile hike through the jungles of the Sahara to get to what is now regarded as sacred ground. Many participate in a ritual where they paint themselves bright colors and throw themselves onto the pile of square thingies while hundreds of Japanese tourists snap photos.
...of course I could be completely wrong. |

I'm pretty sure it's a graveyard, possibly in Mexico, and those are mausoleums. I could be wrong :-)

Me too, based on the plethora of tiny crosses atop the structures. |

sorry sorry!~ i didn't realize there was any response to this...(it fell off the homepage almost immediately (insert frowny here). thanks for resurrecting it!
rock on bearmusic (and nod to pugH)!
yes, it is a graveyard in guatemala just north of panajachel and lake atitlan... we were driving by in a very unsafe feeling microbus and i thought it was an optical illusion--like a model of a middle eastern city/suburb.
