I received several "How was this done..." on Self Portrait in Black and White and White Rabbit - by Grace Slick and Jefferson Airplane.

Long long ago when I was a young photographer I read an article on WeeGee (Arthur Fellig) in an old Popular Photography magazine I have been imitating his distortions ever since.

So here are two ways to distort, no I mean to say, create your own abstract images:

Both images were originally captured through a green glass bottle filled with water

and

to capture an image like this.

At this point in the process White Rabbit - by Grace Slick and Jefferson Airplane was cropped and color corrected for submission.
Self Portrait in Black and White went through a change mode to grayscale and a curves manipulation like this

before submitting.

I like the effect both of these techniques produce and will be trying refinements and variations for future challenges. But you might consider the fact that both images placed very low and received a Request for Disqualification before you try these techniques on your submissions.

I thought this shot should have done better...it was a great interpretation of the song, filled with colours and distortion. It made the boring stuffed rabbit interesting.

Thanks for the background on the technique -- that kind of info is almost my favorite thing about this place. I gave you a 7 and 8...but then I often try wierd effects too and appreciate the extra work and creativity you put into it.

When you click the quote or post reply buttons the window that opens will have a Post Reply box.

In the left colum of that box you will find the word Message:, just to the right of there you will find four square buttons. The first one will put some characters in your document that will bold any thing you put in the place of the characters text.

The next button will do the same but in italic.

The third button will put a image in your reply, it opens a box and you just fill in the blank with the url of your picture. The picture must be in a location on the web that can be addressed by the server such as //www.mindspring.com/~daysez/BWPortrate/Original-self-port.jpg and I think it must be in jpg format. I recomend you use a smaller image so it will fit on small screens.

The fourth button does the web page links.
