this is probably already a tutorial but i need some help.. whats the best /quickest way to clean a sensor? my cam has been fine until tonight, seems to be dark pieces of dust and they appear with both my lenses. i've never cleaned the sensor before.. frightened.

| I usually use sensor swabs, but I've had some decent luck with using a vacuum cleaner (of all things...). There are also sensor brushes out there, specifically designed for this purpose. |

| I would not recomend a vacuum as you can litterally suck tiny peices off your camera / sensor. |

| weird.. i just took a pic without the lens, doesnt seem to be any dust.. yet when i put my lenses on, same effect on both... |

I had success by holding it a few inches away from the sensor. I wouldn't literally stick the nozzle up against the sensor :)

| I highly doubt that you would be able to suck any pieces of your sensor off with a vacuum. But that being said, I would recommend a good blower as a first step, and the "Copper Hill" method of sensor cleaning as a second step. I've bought the basic "sensor swab" kit from the Copper Hill folks, and using their instructions cleaned my sensor several times without any damage. |

I can't find the link now but I thought I read somewhere - (on Nikon d70's at least) that the sensor had super tiny little prism like pieces on it and if you used a vacuum you were in danger of pulling pieces of these off. It's very possible I'm just crazy though. |

When you take a pic with no lens your appeture is 0 (?) Put your lens on...set to F22 and take a shot of the sky. You'll see dust.
Clean carefully with Sensor swabs and Eclipse....
