I've been searching for photo schools, or any schools with great photography programs. Although I know it can be a very subjective thing, if anyone has any names or advice for me that would help out a ton. So far I've looked at Cooper Union, RIT, Illinois Institute of the Arts... |

The owner of my company and his wife are RIT graduates and our Creative Director is a grad of Columbus College of Art and Design.
Obviously I feel both are exceptional based on the talent at our company :-)

Brooks Institute in Santa Barbara is first-rate school devoted 100% to photography. Rhode Island School of Design has a very dynamic photography department and is an excellent school.

Where do you want to go? Photographically and Geographically speaking. There are many schools across the country with photo programs. Some are more commercially oriented, others fine art oriented an others are PJ.
Also, some schools are heavy on photography and pretty light on the Gen Ed stuff, so you would get a very narrowly focused program. In a photography program at a university you will get exposure a broad range of topics along with photography instruction. |

I went to the Academy of Art in San Francisco and liked it well enough. Plus San Francisco is a great place to be a photographer / student (lots of interesting things to shoot). |

a friend of mine is currently doing the 9 month photography program at the CDIA in boston and LOVES it. loves it so much in fact that she has asked me to come spend the next 6 months with her so that we can combine our ideas and network. some of her (guest) professors also teach at the rhode island school of design, which is cool because that is a fabulous school. Everything i've heard about it sounds fantastic. besides you can't beat getting a degree in less than a year--i'm annoyed now that she is doing similar things that i spent my final few semesters in college doing--but it's only taking her 9 months! ;) |
