Noooooooo!!!! I've only had this for about a month. I have a Lexar 512MB CF card, and I was taking a bunch of pictures this morning (for a challenge, no less). I was trying to capture a shot of some items falling, so I was shooting 3 frames per second, and deleting the missed shots (about 80% of them) right off the camera. I guess all the fast writing and erasing messed up the card, because I get an error message with the card in my camera (my 256MB Kingston card works fine, so it's not the camera). I also get an error message with the card in the computer, and I even put it in my old Kodak digital. The Kodak will recognise that a card is in the camera, but it won't write to it. AAAAAAUUUUURRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Has this ever happened to any of you? This is beyond aggravating! |

If the kodak recognizes it, try reformatting it on there.
But even if you get it to work, I'd contact Lexar and ask for a replacement.

What ends up happening in cases like this is the File Allocatin Tbale (FAT) gets corrupted. Sometimes finding a camera (like your Kodak) to read it properly can pull / send the images off via mini-usb cable or similar.
Another approach is to put the card in the card reader, reboot the PC and Scandisk or Checkdisk the removable drive. Norton Sysyemworks also can do this from a Widowas-based .
The recovery software is last resort. |

The same thing just happened to mine. There is a bad batch of Lexars that do this in certain Canon cameras, one of them being the 350D. They will replace it free of charge if you go to their website. They sent me an RMA number and said it will take 5 to 7 days to get my new one. |

Thanks! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one, and that Lexar will replace it. Thank God there wasn't a lot of crucial pictures on it (but I don't think I'll be entering the Knife Fork Spoon challenge! That's okay, the shots weren't turning out how I hoped they would anyway).
Well, off to Lexar's site... |

I just did a live web chat with one of their support reps. After checking a few things, they determined that the card needs to be returned. Of course, I bought it at Office Max on 10/30--just a couple days beyond their 30-day return period. Figures...
I may try to take it back to the store anyway. I used to work there years ago, and they used to do just about anything to keep the customer happy. Otherwise, I'm out my primary CF card for a couple weeks. :o( |
