Got my sigma fisheye, but it came with a guide plate but I have no idea what it's for.. Can someone please explain this to me.

I've got the 15mm myself but I'm not exactly sure what the guide plate is... I never use it anyway. But if I had to guess, I'd say its for sizing filters since the filters go on the mounting portion of the lens.

It's used as a pattern for gel filters apparently.

I had the 14mm f3.5 Sigma that had the same type rear gel filter holder. Unfortunately I bought mine used so it didn’t come with the lens, and it took about three months to track the template down. I tried trial & error first but it’s had to get the right size & shape, especially with $80 a sheet infrared gels.

Hey congrats, did you get the older version or the new DG version?
How do you like it?
can you post some shots with it?
I'm thinking about getting one as well.
