Hi, could anyone give me any advise?

I have the Epson R320 printer but for some reason if i set the parameter on my camera to B&W and print wether post processed or not it has a green tinge to the print out.

Is there something i need to do to correct this?

Color printers will usually add a little color to a b/w print. Is your monitor calibrated? Are you using a calibration device?

Sometimes folks will buy a printer and dedicate it to print b/w prints by switching the color inks with various black, gray inks. Kits can be found by googling.

Thanks, i havent specifically calibarated my monitor or calibaration device. Maybe it is normal for this to happen on colour printers then. It was just bugging me that the cam was in B&W mode yet even straight from the camera it had this green tinge.

All other prints are coming out fine so i guess unless i completely dedicate the printer to black and white i am going to continue to have this problem. Thanks

What program are you using for post-processing, and what are you allowing to set the print parameters?

For instance, if you are using Photoshop, when you click on "Print Preview", under Options: Color Handling, try changing the settings. I get the best results from "Let Printer Determine Colors"; but that is after some trial and error. I printed out the same b&w photo using all the different settings and comparing the prints.

Be aware too, that paper makes a HUGE difference. I have the best b&w results with Canon's Pro Paper (I have a Canon i9900). I would imagine that you might get the best results from your printer with Epson's Pro Papers.

Also search the forums if you are interested in paper issues; there has been quite a bit of discussion about the different papers that people have tried.

Thankyou Linda, i will try that. I use PS CS2 for post editing. I will try playing with the settings.

Thanks for your help.

A lot of times you have to tell the printer to use the black ink only when printing b/w otherwise it uses all colors to try and get black, but usually fails (check your print properties no matter what program you are using). Does that Epson take the gray inks too? That would be good to use with the black for better gray range.

Good luck
