Thanks gr8photos. I think I will try to capture different angles of the flowers. I normally think I have to shoot the top or the side of the flower. I don't know why, but I will try something else next time. I think I will put that on my list of things to do today. :)

all i can say is what i usually do. i take many photos of a flower playing around with the DOF and the angle. i kind of work my way around a flower to try all sorts of wacky angles and maybe find one that's not your average perspective. try closing in and maybe just including part of the flower. i usually try and see how shallow a DOF i can get away with to have the flower in focus but the background as blurry as possible. just some ideas.

I never have. They just don't do anything for me. I rather take pictures of anything else. My favorite subjects are kids...though I've never posted any here. I also like old things, so I was excited about the recent challenge...though my picture isn't doing as well as I'd hoped.
My brother and I both shot a deer. We ate his and framed mine. |

here's my flower pics...natural elements [/i]
Lianne, I was looking at your galleries and felt so at home there. I am from NYS, spent most of my life upstate. Seeing pictures from the beautiful northeast was nice. I live in Florida now, to be near family, but I miss the rugged beauty of the upstate. It was great to see the cardinal, and chicadee, and bladder campion, etc. Mmmmm I can almost feel the crisp air. Thanks! My Photographs

Terry, It's difficult to make a positive identification with one view of the flower but judging by the color of the flower, AND the shape of the foliage, I think it looks like a Calypso or Fairy-slipper. BUTfrom the angle I can't really see the "slipper." They are a northern flower so if you are in the south we can rule that out. It might be a variety of Cardinal Flower.

Here are two wildflowers that grow in New York State: 1-Jack-in-the-Pulpit
Both grow in forested environments and are protected. These specimans were found in the Adirondack Mountains.

The official Purple Trillium is more of a deep red color, so I can see why someone wouldn't know there is a Purple variety. Now I don't believe I've ever seen the pure white...only the painted, which is mostly white with red splashes toward the center. Still learning...YES! That's one of the things I love about life! Thanks for sharing.

WOW! Those are some pretty flowers Daysez. I really like the red rose. I can see the texture of the flower and not just the beauty. Good photo!

That pedal that is closest to us on the bottom in the red rose picture is a little distracting.
