I've been told to avoid these people from a number of contacts, but this is the first time I've been sent a link where someone has published their story online.
I thought I'd share it to hopefully help others from suffering at their hands.

An interesting article. Sounds like PriceRite is operated by an angry man living in his mother's basement. Of course, as the author pointed out, I have little sympathy for someone who doesn't bother to research and/or decides to purchase anyway despite overwhelmingly negative reviews but it's still an interesting read. |

i worked mailorder for nealry 10 years - I know how much it costs to advertise in magazines and run such a business - how on earth can they stay or even be in business like this?
My one experience with Adorama was almost as bad. No yelling or calling the cops or extortion, but a week of 'it's shipping today' and them not shipping it.
B&H rocks!

Yup...it's all over Slashdot right now too...
As for online orders, I've had luck with B&H, BeachCamera, and I just got my Bogen tripod and ballhead from Einstein Products of eBay. Seller was very friendly, had good selection, and undersold B&H by a substantial (but not outrageous) amount. (Basically about $25 cheaper for all I ordered and I was able to talk him into waiving the shipping.)
It did take a few weeks to get the merchandise, not sure what happened, but I contacted the seller regarding not having received product yet. He explained it was shipping straight from Bogen/Manfrotto and I should have gotten it by now. He said he'd check into it ASAP and a few days later it arrived. (May have just been the holidays).
Overall, it was a good experience, good merchandise at a good price. No attempt to "sell accessories" or snowball. And actually negotiated a better price. So I think I'll have to check them out again for future purchases.

Wow, that article makes me angry that people like that are still in business. One thing I noticed, isn't it illegal to record a phone call without telling the person on the other end that it's being recorded, or at least have a beep every 15 seconds or so? |

Depends on the state. For instance, in Minnesota, only one person has to know they're being recorded (which is easy if one of the people in the conversation is doing the recording.) |

I was thinking about that. I guess it's a California thing. |
