I need to prepare several images to be projected with a digital projector and I want them to look their best.
They'll be shown on a large screen--magnified to appx. 5' x 5'
Does anyone know what an optimal resolution and dpi might be for this situation?
Edit for typo and to say I probably shoulda put this under Q&A--too tired to think, obviously!

The projector will have a max size that it can project. Most are 768 on the long side though some allow 1024. Save at the highest quality (jpeg that is). DPI only matters for prints.

Ok...so, if I follow, I should be most concerned with the pixel dimensions and save to say 750 on the longest side. Then use the lowest compression possible in the jpeg.
But I'm slightly confused...it's recommended to save to 72 dpi for web and I thought that did two things: 1) reduces image to a size viewable on most screens 2) reduces over-all file size. (I don't want to show up with files so huge they take forever to load.) |
