Any suggestiions on how to improve this? I would like to make the colors richer especially in the bushes in the forground. I'm using PS Elements 3 to edit.

Are you looking for post processing info or how to reshoot?

What software are you using?

Increasing the hue would bring out the colors a bit more. Looks dark too. Some levels, or curves tweaking would brighten up the shot.

Interesting scene but maybe taking the shot from a different point of view. Maybe near the path so the the viewers eyes can follow it.

I think this could be nice using the following post processing:

1) duplicate the background and use gaussian blur just enough to loose the detail but not the shape of the trees etc.
2) change the blending mode to overlay and adjust the opacity if you think it's too over the top.

I'm not sure if elements 3 allows you to do this.

I know you have elemetns but I wanted to see what the gothic glow would do. It really didn't have much effect on the original so I adjusted a few things then did the gothic glow action in PS.

A quick try at it. Is this what you were going for?

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll work on it again and see if can improve it. Sabphoto, your suggestion makes me think I need to upgrade to the "real" PS! SDW65 can you let me know what changes you made?

What I used is not available in PS Elements however the following technique would come close. Instead of using highlight/shadows use the following.

1) ctrl-alt-~ (this selects the highlights)
2) invert the selection
3) duplicate the background with the selection active and set the blending mode to screen - drop the selection
4) create a new layer with all visible layers and use gaussian blur then blend the layer with overlay. Adjust the opacity. I found 50 - 60 % to be about right but that depends on your taste.

In step 3, just hit cntrl-J and you will get a new layer with only the selection on it, nicely feathered and all.
