Is there any truth to the statements that I see on Ebay that a lens is an EF lens (Canon), but it only works on film SLRs?? This confuses me, because I thought an EF was an EF and the digital stuff was backwards compatible. Stupid me, maybe???
Thanks in advance.
And no, I can't RTFM, since I don't have the lenses yet :)

EF works on the canon DSLRs just fine. EF-S only works on the 300D,350xt and 20D digital though.

EF lenses are made for the EOS cameras, film and digital.

Some of the earliest EF lenses don't have the neccessary connectors to go full auto on a dSLR I believe. But I'm not 100% sure.

| Not sure but my 1990 circa 35-105 lens works just fine on the 20D. |

If it's a non-canon brand lens (Sigma, Tamron, Quantray, tokina, etc etc etc) it's possible it wont work on newer EOS camera bodies...
But if it's a Canon lens it should work on any EOS camera with the exception of the EF-M which wont power up the 'servo focus' telephotos..
(The EF-M is a manual focus only film EOS camera..)
