Who is using these two microsites?

1) Are they working out ok for you?
2) How do they compare to the big 3? (IStock, Shutterstock, Dreamstime)

3) What is your referral link for either or both?

I uploaded one photo to BigStock in March. I keep forgetting about it until someone mentions them in the forum. It's been downloaded 31 times, despite the note they put on it that says "but some color artifacting through top leaves due to sun exposure." That's $15.50. Maybe I should upload two photos.

Our referral link for Big Stock Photo: //www.bigstockphoto.com/?refid=dEYIBZRf81

Slow sales, sluggish approvals, haven't been using it long enough to comment in much detail.

123 doesn't seem to have a referral program. We've only just joined so can't comment on performance but their model of sales and payment intrigued us.

PS I'm speaking in the plural as my husband and I hold shared accounts for stock agencies.

123 is a good site. Pretty quick on approving images up to now. I've just joined last week and already have 60some downloads. It seems to compare to Dreamstime for me up to now.

BigStock has a weird process for file approval. I've uploaded more than 200 files this weekend and when I started submiting them for approval they stopped me after 20 saying that my rating wasn't high enough to have more than 20 photos in queue. Strange if you ask me.

I've also just discovered FOTOLIA.COM. It seems rather new but their interface is probably the best I've seen upto now. And I've made 4 sales last week. It trickles along. :-)

We too are trialling some of the other sites:

Shutterstock I'm sure you're signed up with already

Dreamstime is our highest earner so far

I already gave you our Big Stock Photo referral link

Here's our Fotolia referral link

And here's our Can Stock Photo link

Some of these we've signed up to only recently so we haven't any detailed feedback for you yet, once we have some will be happy to share it.

Would certainly appreciate your referrals for any of these sites.

THANKS

Question for all of you: Do you put the same photos up on all the sites you belong to? I know these sites aren't exlusive, but is it a good idea to do that? Also, what is the most you've made off of 1 photo? I'm not talking specific sites here--if that photo is on 10 stock sites, that's fine. What's your total. Just curious. Thanks!

We submit all the same photos to all the micro stock sites, by that I mean sites such as those mentioned in this thread. They are hugely inconsistent in terms of which they accept/ reject so we don't have the exact same portfolio on all of them.

We do not submit the same images to Alamy as we do to these sites.

Yes I post the same images on all micro sites. This means I get the most out of my images.

Combining the sales of all micros I'm on, this image has earned me roughly $300.00. :-)

oh wow, that was your image kosmikkreeper :)
I see that on all the 'top downloads' on all the sites. congrats.

When my cousin wanted a wintery picture for her wedding invitation, I looked on istock for winter snow tree.. and yours came up and I bought it... (that was a few months ago and i didn't know it was yours)

great image.

And back to the thread discussion...

I earn almost 4X more on 123RF than i do on bigstock. I have uploaded all images to both sites, but bigstock has accepted more... So I have less images on 123RF, but earn more there.

123RF is also REALLY easy to submit to, not catagories, no nothin.. just upload and click quickly.

That said, Stockxpert is even easier to upload to. (but I have very few downloads there)

Do you mind sharing how many times it has been downloaded on for example shutterstock.

123 RF and Stockxpert are new sites but I have $ 23.00 made with 123 in a month which is good with only like 75 images and $12.00 with Stockxpert. I think 123 is going to be a good one!

it's fun to see that a nautre image can sell as mush as a good business image since I don't have a lot of business images yet. :-)
Oh and thx for your coments LEAF. Always great to hear!!

It's a great image. Should have made a LOT more for all the people who wanted it.

There's no signup credit for us if you are a photographer, only a buyer.

so just go to istockphoto.com and signup. :)

for the best paying site per photo online...

by far shutterstock, but then i disagree with melking after that. Number 2 for me is dreamstime. They are actually almost the same $ / picture / year as shutterstock for me.. .i just have tons more pictures on shutterstock.

CanStock sales should improve dramatically with the new subscription service. Subscription service is good for graphic designers as well as the micro stock photographers because designers can download 100's of images a month and there is a higher chance for your images to be downloaded if you have more images.
