I've lived in Michigan 20 years and still haven't made it to the U.P. Got as far as Mackinac Island one time. Maybe some day.

Game!

Oh wait - I think I'm already in :)

Suggestion #1: Snowy cemetery (if it stops raining and starts snowing).

alfresco - there just happens to be a really nice cemetery smack dab in the middle of Marquette - it's Park Cemetery on Third Street. The same one the moose was running loose in last summer. lol Snow is forecast for the rest of the week too.

Perfect!!!!

Watch out snowy, moose-on-the-loose, citybound cemetery!

Unless there are other ideas?

btw-
Anyone planning on flying into Mqt for the gtg please remember that the snow on the runway is not as bad as it looks, it's there to cushion the plane. :p

If you hit 75 right you can make the bridge in 4 hours tops. After that it's only 3 hours to Marquette.

7 hour trip to visit a cemetery in the UP? Come on, come on!!! Now that sounds like fun!

Of course the Seney stretch will be a whiteout if the weatherblunderer is correct, he, however, has yet to be correct.

Wisconsinites are welcome as well!! Only a few hours from Green Bay!
Minnesotanonians? Only 6-7 hours away.
Chicago? Only 7 hours!
Canada? Come on, eh? Only 3 hours from the Sault. Only 60 miles from Thunder Bay (as the boat goes).

Hmmmm ... Little Known Fact #273: "U.P. is in the middle of everywhere, yet the middle of nowhere."

I'd have to say I agree with that fact alfresco

alfresco - and anyone else who is coming to the GTG.....the Park Cemetery is on 7th street - not third! I typed the wrong street and would hate to have folks get lost in the huge Marquette metropolis. :p

JP - just drive east on US41, and veer left onto Washington (business section) and continue to Third street and turn left. The cemetery is just up the top of the hill.

US 41? I have that all the way down here in Florida! How long ya think? 36hours maybe?
Actually, when I lived in Cleveland I had an aunt and uncle in Escanaba so I drove up to the UP a few times. Wish I was still up there so I could join you all!

41 ends at Miami Beach - I was there this summer, and two days later I was in Copper Harbor where 41 starts.

[Copper Harbor to Miami drive times]
If you're using yahoo maps you won't use 41 the entire trip and it'll only take 29.5 hours!

mapquest
will take 30.5 hours

google
will take 37 hours, don't use their directions.

Uhhhmmmm ... evening bump for remaining yoopers!
