Hi,

My job has asked me to do portraits of all the people who work here.

WHat is the best way to accomplish this to get an image that has depth and looks professional?

My inital idea of a setup would be, my 350D mounted on tripod with the standard lens (18-55mm) set at around 40mm with f/8.0

I don't have any professional lights or umbrellas but I have 2 halogen desktop lamps ( 60W ) , and was thinking of placing one at 45 degrees to the node on the right-hand side and another at 90 degrees on the nose on the left-hand side.
The wall has a white matt paint but I could use white board if that would be better.

Has anybody got suggestions or a good website with details of how to do achieve a professional portrait?

Thank you

Darragh

do you have any flashes? you can bounce a flash against a wall to give a soft directional light.

Halogen work lights are somethin I'd personally never use with people, nasty tones and it's a hot light....could more easily result in sweaty shiny faces. Also if that's the only lens you have, I would use it at full zoom (55 mm)

But If you want no shadows you can bounce an on camera flash straight up, or one on each side...bounced light is softer and usually exposes most parts of a persons face.

here's a shot I did recently with bounced light...it's not too harsh but still has created a seperation of tones
