So after being away from the whole photography thing for a few months, I decided I missed it way too much and have decided to start taking classes. Just enrolled in the RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) Digital Photography program. Probably going to take me around 2 years to finish, but I'm sure it's going to be amazing. Classes start January and I can't wait!!!

To celebrate I was going to buy myself a nice 70-200 f4.0/L , but unfortunately it seems that they are out of stock everywhere. So if anybody knows of a place I can get one at B&H prices let me know. Thanks!

congrats on starting class. I am starting a Digital Media Design program in Jan, and it incorporates Digital Photography along with web design and multi media/video. I cant wait.

Im celebrating by getting a new DSLR to use for the digital photo class.

Try here

They answer their phone right away, are easy to deal with, ship quickly, and priced fair. Just my $.02.

Hey Jason, I went to Brown and took classes as RISD, way the heck back when. And Nico Blue is over there, I assume you know him? Or maybe not. Anyway, when you gonna roll out to the Cape for a visit?

Hey Jay, do you think you can post a link to the course that your going to do? Does it cost a lot? It sure does sound like an interesting course.

They are a very good school, arguably the best in America, and they are expensive; undergraduate tuition currently 29K a year... For degree programs, at least. I'm not sure exactly which program Jason is looking at.

Here is a link to the Program that I am starting. The classes look amazing and I can't wait. Classes are actually MUCH cheaper than I would have thought too. You can see all the info here:

RISD Digital Photography Program

As for Nico, I know "of" him, but we have not had a chance to meet up to go for a shoot yet. Eventually one of these days I am going to make my way out there to the Cape, hopefully when things settle down a bit here at work. been traveling non-stop over the past few months with my job. The sucky thing is that this job really is going to get in the way of the RISD program which means I have about a month or so to find a new job.

STRESS STRESS STRESS.

Luckily B&H got the 70/200 F4.0/L back in stock so I picked that up this weekend to help cheer me up! :)

I'm going into the continuing learning program which is not even close to the cost of undergrad. Classes are only around $600 a pop or so for a 12 week / 36hr class. And the best part is all of the exposure that it will give me. Apparently a lot of the clothing designers there use the photo students to shoot their fashion shows and model/clothing shoots. So should be great.

That's cool. Nice looking certificate program at a very reasonable price :-) I got me one of those in Graphic Design in San Diego back in the late 80's...
