I am looking for another lens for my Canon 350D, my main photographic topics are Dragonflies, Butterfies etc.
I therefore need to to fill as much of the frame of these subjects often taken from between 10ft-12ft approx. 3 metres.
A zoom lens Canon 70-300mm possibly.
other makes such as Tamron or Sigma considered.
Keen amateur with little cash.
any sites worth looking at with examples

Take a look at the Sigma 70-300mm APO DG Macro, should fit your wants at a good price.

Based on countless reviews I'd recommend the Sigma already mentioned, 70-300mm APO DG Macro. |

As stated, the Sigma 70-300 APO DG is probably the best of the many 70-300 consumer lens.
I'd reccomend the 100mm F2.8 Macro USM for you though. It takes amazing macros from 3-4 feet away.

I agree, louddog about the macro lens, but on a limited budget, the Sigma covers nearly all angles. The Sigma 105mm Macro is also a cracking lens.

Also noted shooting distances of 3 metres+
