Hello Good People!

Long time...
I was wondering if anyone new how to replace one colour in a pic for another colour. I am using PS CS2. I know there is a replace color function but I can't seem to figure it out.
Oh, maybe it doesn't work with layers. Hmm....

Anywho, if anyone has some steps, I would really apprecuiate it.
thanks in advance.
peace

This is how I do it. Let's make the sky purple.

'Select' / 'Color Range...' And hold down 'CTRL' whilst dragging the pointer across the colours you need.

Click 'okay', this shows selected area

'Layer' / 'New Adjustment Layer' / 'Hue Saturation'

Play with the sliders!

Oh. Okay. What slide12345678 said.

Basically everything I posted, but in one dialog box that I didn't know about up until now :)

okay. thanks good people.
the select color range steps will not work for what I am trying to do.
I basically have one pic that has 2 colors on it. I used layers to paste partgs of one pic to the other & I wanna make it look seamless.
The color I want replaced is on the pic. The hue/sat does let me choose the color prom the pic (tho it's a nifty trick I'll keep in mind).
I tried messing around with the replace colour but it doesnt change anything.
Got any steps?

Hmm... sorry, I just can't visualise what you're trying to do.

Can you post some pics as an example?

okay, here's the pic:

so, I basically wanna take the color of the t & replace the color of the brown in the boxes with the text.

Just boost the contrast until it's black.

Draw a rectangular selection first;

Then use 'Select' / 'Color Range' and hold down 'SHIFT' while selecting the colour you're trying to change;

Finally, use the eyedropper to select the background t-shirt colour, and then use flood-fill (paint bucket tool) and flood the selected area;

Then use clone brush to tidy it up.

The colors are so close in some cases that it will be a little tough to separate them. Try the "select color range", sample more than one spot, and play with the fuzziness in the range of 3-7. Once you've got it as good as you think you can, hit OK, then selection>modify>smooth, select a radius of about 3, and apply one or more times. Now adjust hue/sat to make the color what you wish.
The color on the back print section is quite different from on the front section, so you'l prolly have to adjust it separately.

After tidying up;

Is that what you're trying to do?

Oh, an even quicker way (there are probably a hundred ways to do this!)

Use the eyedropper to select the t-shirt colour (the main t-shirt). Then use the paint bucket with a tolerance of 10 and flood fill the 'wrong colour' area. Few extra clicks of the paint bucket will tidy up any left-over pieces, like in between the letters.
