What are the best photography magazines/newsletters out there? I thought it would be a good idea to subscribe to a few different publications, but I don't know what there is.

Depends on your interests. I like Outdoor Photographer, Link

but there are more technical mags out there if that is what your interested in. One of the pro mags a friend gives me is Rangefinder, link

I love Outdoor Photographer. I get it free from a deal I found on slickdeals.net. When my subscription expires next year, I'm going to actually pay to renew.

Outdoor Photographer is also my favorite, and the nicest I've yet found. Photo Graphic was good too, but they just put out their last issue.

PDN is great but its kinda expensive.

I'll echo what the others have said... Outdoor Photographer is great.

And I also really like American Photo.

I also love Outdoor Photographer. Pop Photo is really great too. I just received my complimentary copy of PhotoShop User and it is awesome too, even if they are "Mac-centric".

Two UK magazines I buy once in a while are:

Digital Photographer
Digital Photography Made Easy

Both have technique related articles and include a CD with sample images and tutorials.

Also, here's a link with several ...

In my opinion, the UK magazines are much better than American ones, I'm a junkie.

I have to agree there. They seem to have more content and less advertising.

Photography Monthly is the best of the UK magazines. Buy it every month. It's the cheapest of the UK magazines, but has lot's of content.

Except for Will and Dan's arrogant critique, I agree.

Personally I consider Black&White Photography the best UK photo magazine.
It has a special ... spirit.

My favorite I've read is Practical Photography, a UK publication. It's ridiculous expensive though so I rarely pick up a copy, much less have a subscription.

The cheap ones that are 80% ads annoy me. I already have a camera, don't try to sell me another one. I just want to learn what to do with what I have! I guess that's the trade off. To get more content and fewer ads, you have to pay more.

I thought all folks from the UK are like that, so I didn't even noticed (ducks) :P

I have subscribded to most of the popular newstand ones. cheaper than picking up copies at retail if you get more than 3 or 4 a year.

My Outdoor Photographer just lapsed. I guess I'm too cheap for it. About the time i decide to drop Shutterbug they have a good issue, so i guess i'll keep them for awhile.

I get Rangefinder and another free magazine..something studio photographer..it and rangefinder are very similar in lots of fluffy reviews (aka editorial ads) with a feature of a photographer or 2. Some of the ads are handy if you are or wanna be a pro as the companies do not market to the consumer (almums is one example)

The English magazines are good, but not cheap, and not at my local newstand. 40 minute drive to find them. I can go across the street and get a used photography book for that price, no ads!

Photoshop User is great, but $11 a copy is steep.
