I have been experimenting with a few things both in 'the studio' as well as post processing. I would really like some serious commentary on this shot of you feel you can spare a moment or two. All I will say is it is the actual subject on the actual background. Nothing done that would not be permissable in an advanced rules challenge.
In advance, I appreciate it..thx.
Tentatively titled: Pepperberry (suggestions welcome)

I like this photo for the most part. I'm not sure I like the inclusion of the strawberry, but that's just personal preference. Other than that, the photo is very sharp with a nice stark white background. I would say that this is definitely a successful studio shot. What did you do for lighting? Looks good, nice work.

Well...there are 4 250 watt and 2 500 watt bulbs on it and still couldn't get the left seeds to show anything but black...
The strawberry is intentional...part of a theme I am shooting for. |

Nice photo. Looks 'appetizing' I'd say.
I wonder if a piece of paper or cloth over the lights to make them softer and dimmer, and a longer exposure would make the seeds more evenly lit?
And the edges look harsh somehow... What is the background? |

The background is a white cotton sheet.
I tried many things over the lights. The reds just got too dark. I was able to get the seeds lighter if I put the camera in front of the light, but the rest of the shot was crap. I need to build a lightbox this weekend. |

Just by way of comparison, the following shot was done hastily for "single light source". It's not much of a shot, but the interesting thing here is that it used a single overhead 60 watt light and a white card to bounce fill. No frills whatsoever. Not really a lot of difference in the lighting, eh?

Comparitively no, but I think the background has a lot to do with that. If I was shooting this on black I would not have used half the lights and would have set the camera much differently.
