What happens when you push Neat Image to the limits? These were all made with Neat Image only...no other adjusting..except for on the last one I did some burning and stuff. But you get the idea...

Kinda crazy eh? Gotta give props to Rikki...he was the original inspiration for these.

*Edited to add originals.

i think they are great as far as digital art goes - they would work really well as screenprints. Definatley left the house of photography though.

I might need to play with the old NI myself ;)

But, since it was only neat image, doesn't that make them OK to use under basic editing? I mean, if you had a particular desire to get hammered by the voters...

It would be bending the rules for sure I think...but I don't know if it would be completely illegal...hard to say.

I wouldn't do it though, lol...no one would like it as a photograph.

Heh yah that would be the problem. I still like how they turned out though.

Yeah...I've been messing around with some digital art lately. I was a Graphic Design major for a year, so I know a little about it.

I might do a whole series of these...hmmmm.

This should be considered my personal opinion and not a Site Council ruling, however I would say not legal. The filter rule states: "The use of filters (or non-Photoshop equivalent) is strictly limited. Any filter or stand-alone utility designed and used to preserve the integrity of the image and/or reduce the effects of noise, scratches, etc, are permitted. These include but are not limited to the Sharpen, Unsharp Mask, and Dust & Scratches filters, and standalone image cleanup utilities such as NeatImage" (emphasis added)

I would say these entries fail the "and used" test and would vote to DQ. I suspect, though, that I'd be outvoted, and we'd just let the voters have their way with it.

Challenges aside, that's a pretty neat result. I kinda like it.

How exactly did you pull this off?

A lot of messing around...lol. I had the settings on neat image at a little above what you would normally use for a photo. I just applied the filter about 20 times...then with a couple of them I went back with the paint bucket and did a little coloring in...reminded me of my pre-school days.

I just tried to do a lanscape...but it doens't work too well, makes it too unrecognizable.

I'll have to try something else other than my face....;)

Well, it would be an interesting debate. That clause pertains to filters. You can also make a photo very much a graphic art piece by playing with curves. Would they DQ that? (Not arguing, just think the lines are very thin!)

Enjoy!
