As I was putting on my shoes this morning I heard a clatter outside and remembered it was supposed to snow last night, that must be the snow plows. I opened the blind and what did I see, snow! It's the big fluffy, packs like nobody's business, snowball fight at 9 kind of snow. Had to stop and get a couple images cause it is supposed to be gone by noon. :(
Enjoy

Snow is due in the UK end of this week! Just means everything will come to a standstill - we don't deal well with snow even though it comes each winter!

| Getting our first snow too. Another first for the day, our first demolition derby around I465, all the crazies are out in full force. |

Snowing here in MI too. My drive in to work this AM was slippery and exciting in a white knuckle, "OH GOD don't let me slide under that semi" kind of way. Lots of slides offs and at least one serious accident. Seems to take a few days before people remember how to drive in the stuff.

what a treat to wake up to this morning!
i'm SUCH a kid when it comes to snow. before i put all of the garden junk up for the winter, i made sure the sleds were SUPER easily accessible just inside the door of the garage. this isn't sledding weather yet, but i certainly can dream!!
i don't have to leave the house until later today, but i plan on sitting here working and enjoying the view!!! |

I love it but I'll be driving right down 65 sometime today heading to Kentucky so I'm hopeing it is all gone by then. Wish I knew when I'd be going through and had the time, I'd stop by for that derby, that would be cool....oh and it has already stopped here and even rained a little, it won't be here much longer today.

I agree. I saw a bus, 2 cars and even a cop car off the road in a 2 mile stretch from work to home....

As soon as there's any kind of inclemant weather everyone forgets how to drive or they drive like it's the middle of summer and the pavement is dry.

...a winter storm warning remains in effect from 5 pm this afternoon to 7 am est friday.
snow showers will increase early this evening and become heavy at times through thanksgiving day. northwest winds increasing to 20 to 30 mph with higher gusts to 40 mph will produce areas of blowing snow...occasionally reducing visibilities in open areas to less than a quarter mile. the strong winds will also produce wind chill readings from zero to 10 below. total snow accumulations from tonight into thursday night may reach a foot...especially in the higher terrain west of baraga and over the huron mountains. winds will begin to diminish late thursday evening...but heavy lake effect snow showers will continue into friday morning.
a winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow...sleet... and ice are expected or occurring. strong winds are also possible which may cause some power outages. any travel is strongly discouraged.

Ugh! Humans aren't meant to live in blizzards! Think I'll go to the beach! :P And yes, we have a couple of extra rooms around here (if you don't mind the cranky teen daughters), bring that ugly Nikon, I'll teach ya how to use it. LOL

not that i like to defend Toronto, but i was there for that storm. I've lived my whole life in Alberta (and we get some hella big snowstorms) and have spent some Christmas Holidays in Winnipeg. I've never seen anything like that one in TO. I think we dug out 12 different cars on the way back to Mississauga driving from the Leafs game (second last game in Maple Leaf Gardens). it was a zoo.
Y'all want snow? I'll mail ya some when it sets in here.

Snow here too. I woke up to white this morning. Probably not quite 2", although it doesn't seem to be sticking much to the roads, just the tress and grass. Big white flakes, and it's very pretty.
My daughter already had today off of school as part of the Thanksgiving break, so we have no place to go and just enjoy sitting inside where it's warm and watching the snow fall. Might be the day to bake those cookies I bought the ingredients for! |

I'm just down the road from alfresco....we're under a winter snow storm warning until Friday a.m. I think they are under estimating the snow accumulations though as we have had 4 inches fall already this morning since 7 a.m. Last I heard the prediction is for 5-6 inches ever 12 hours through Friday morning. I will probably have to leave for work a lot earlier than I need to jus to ensure I can get off my back road. I am supposed to start at 11pm, but doubt I could get off this road if I don't leave before 8pm, maybe even earlier. Since I work in the ER and they need all the workers to show up I try not to ever call in.
I did go out this morning and purchase a generator as we could lose power again if the winds get as high as they are saying. Nothing worse than freezing in your own house.
Everyone have a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

| Well, here in So California we have our share of tough weather too. Here at 9am it's a brisk 67 degrees and partly cloudy. I think I should put on a thick t-shirt before going outside today. ;-) |
