I know, it is too much, it was really cold outside so I didn't get that many takes, I felt sorry enough splashing water all over the guy in 40 degree weather.. But, do you think I am on the right track with this? (the blood is supposed to look animated, not too real.

as, ummm, unappealing as the subject is, I could give you a little tip on the blood. Mix just a little blue in the color and you'll get a more realistic hue. This is too red...
