I've noticed recently that Internet Explorer "forces" me to save most images from websites as .bmps -- even when I know the images are some other file format. I can't determine a rhyme or reason to when it will and when it won't. Just curious if anybody knows what's going on. Specs: I'm using Windows 2000 Pro and IE 6.0.
Anybody have any ideas?

I've had this happen to me...found the solution on annoyances.org (a great resource for all things exasperating). You have to clear your temporary internet files cache. In IE go to Tools > Internet Options and under the General tab click Delete Files in the Temporary Internet Files box. This will do the trick. |

It did work -- thanks -- but what a pain to have to do that every ??? hours/days/weeks -- especially when it starts taking quite a little time to delete all those little files.... *sigh*
