I've noticed recently that Internet Explorer "forces" me to save most images from websites as .bmps -- even when I know the images are some other file format. I can't determine a rhyme or reason to when it will and when it won't. Just curious if anybody knows what's going on. Specs: I'm using Windows 2000 Pro and IE 6.0.
Anybody have any ideas?

| I've had this happen to me...found the solution on annoyances.org (a great resource for all things exasperating). You have to clear your temporary internet files cache. In IE go to Tools > Internet Options and under the General tab click Delete Files in the Temporary Internet Files box. This will do the trick. |

It did work -- thanks -- but what a pain to have to do that every ??? hours/days/weeks -- especially when it starts taking quite a little time to delete all those little files.... *sigh*
