I did a shoot with a girl last week, payment being a cd of shots only. When you guys do this sort of thing, what do you give them? Do you provide the pictures straight from the camera, no post-processing? Or do you only provide the pictures after you have gone over them in your PP software? Thanks for the info. She did say she wanted all the shots, good or bad.

It depends, Chad. If you plan to make your business photography, then only your best professional quality shots should ever be shared. However, your friend just wants the shots for herself and isn't likely to be referring other work to you, then give her the whole lot, but I would still make any necessary PS adjustments first.
Your reputation for producing consistently quality work is the most important thing you have as a photographer.

No way... is my first thought to 'all the shots'. Just because there are bound to be some that are not up to what you consider good or 'showable'. And guess what thats what shes going to want. Even if that is not the case you dont want anybody knowing that you are capable of taking an oof shot or one where her eyes are closed...or whatever.
Think about it this way. When you get a proof sheet to choose pictures from they dont include any unusable shots. And you can probably bet your tush all of those are pictures that the photographer is willing to put his name on.
very good tip:
if you took many shots with the same lighting set up same everything exept for the pose, you can copy your adjustment layers from picture to picture. Then tweak individually.
Hope that helps.Dont forget to post the pictures when youre done tweaking...(i mean tweaking the pictures) |
