Reaching out to the VURD (vast unpaid research department):
We have a presentation in two hours and we're wanting to illustrate the concept of perception. The idea we came up with is this:
A zoomed-in photo which, initially, you perceive to be one thing. But upon zooming out (or looking from a different perspective) is found to be something else entirely.
Do any of you have example images that might fit the bill?

This isn't quite what you're asking for, but this one has a real conflict of scale: many voters thought it was venetian blinds, when it's avtually the side of a building:

There's a couple in here that might work...3rd, 12th, 13th places for starters.

If you zoom in you see the rugby match in the viewfinder. |

The best example I can think off hand are the sculptures that are just jumbled piles of metal until you move around them to a certain perspective -- then they become something recognizable -- such as a cross in front of a church or a Star of David mobile (two examples I've seen). Several commercials have used the same idea -- as did the opening credits of the recent film Spiderman and if I remember correctly Hollowman.
