I spent weeks uploading all my stuff, 7,000 photos in over 11GB, to smugmug. I though I'd put it all there, then organize it... oops!
I just want to break the huge folder into years, and then go from there. I didn't think ahead and do a test case, and am now finding out that, as far as I know, you have to select each single photo to move it. With so many photos, this is ridiculous. There must be a better way. Even to simply open the silly "move" page takes for frikken ever.
Any body know?

no, hon, you can do a batch move...
move photos (expert) is one way... you pull down to the folder youwant for each photo
or move photos, click on all those you want to move to the same folder
I added u as a friend in smugmug

Ya Di, that's what I've been trying. My problem is that my one folder that I want to break out is so big it takes a longe time for it to open. Once open I click, click, click on each of the photos to move, hundreds, which takes about 1 to 1.5 second for each one, as the web page wants to register each click.
Also, it's going so slowly that it's only worked for me one of the three times I've tried so far, which is a real bummer after investing all that time to clickon each of 500 photos for ten minutes. Tends to just not work. :-/
I just assumed it would be more like MS Windows, or an FTP site, for organizing folders.
Boohoo!

Ya, or even ten equal ones to get the size managable. As it is, it would be faster for me to re-upload everything... 11GB in 100MB chunks... YUCK!

Got a reply to an email, very fast...
================
Hello ****,
I'm sorry you are having problems.
I would suggest that first try moving smaller groups of photos from the
one gallery to the new galleries. One thing to keep in mind is that
Monday is a one of our busiest server days. We get twice as much
activity on Monday than we do any other day. This will have an effect
on features such as moving photos from gallery to gallery. Please try
moving smaller batches. If you still have problems, please let us know
and we will try and do it from our end.
Best regards,
John

I did try moving just a few with no luck today. I did move 47 at once this weekend.

The folks at SmugMug are very helpful, Kudos.
They divided my directory up onto 10 bins for me, so hopefully that will solve my problems.
They also asked what browser I use, and suggested FireFox, so I'll be comparing my IE with FireFox while sorting my photos.
