How can I blur on the background of my photos? Do I need to select the subject with the brush or what? I have seen a lot of floral shots with just the flower and the background blurred. Please help me out |

In the pictures you're likely talking about, the effect was created with the camera using F-Stop and selective focusing. A similar effect can be created using software, but imo it always looks 'faked'.

geese photoshop 3.... hmmmm, well its been a while since I used that version but a quick way to do it is to select only the flower than do a select inverse in photoshop and then in filter menu choose gausion blur or blur.
You can select the flower by the magic wand but that may not work so then use the lasso tool.
