Had the same thing two days ago at work... someone dropped a mal-formed filename on my pewter. I actually found a (free with limitations) version of software that deletes it. I see if I can find it... dropping to a cmd prompt did not work for me... I couldn't delete it or mess with the attributes...

Give me a minute or two...brb

Got it... I used Delete FXP to get rid of the bad boy...

On this page near the bottom they have a Free Edition (with no link) because Personal Edition is the Free one unless you give um some cash to unlock a few other features.

Download the personal one
. There's a link just below download where it says "The installer (contained in a 918KB ZIP file) for Delete FXP Files can be downloaded here." The free flavor of this allows you to delete 5 files every time you launch it. Beings as you only have one to get rid of (like me) the free version is peachy.

There's also some other programs to delete for ever files from the pc withought being able to recover them (for security reasons). Because when you erase a file what the sistem does is just to get that piece of disk avaiable to save over it again, and not completely remove the files. With specific programs the files can be recovered.

Running a ChkDsk will most likely solve this problem.
Start - Run - CMD, hit OK
Type Chkdsk in command window and hit enter.
